So I got my very first manicure today. It was really nice, I think that it is something I may have to treat myself to more often.
So anyway, is it possible to be ecstatic out of your mind and yet sad at heart at the same time? I found out that another of my friends is pregnant and I just...well I guess with all the wedding stuff going on and the lack of sleep it overwhelmed me. I just wish that I could find that same happiness that so many of my friends have been blessed to find. I get frustrated sometimes that I am doing something wrong or that something is wrong with me but...I don't know. I keep telling myself that I am God's child and He has promised to give me everything that is good and glorifying to Him. I also know that the desires of my heart, if I am following Him, are the desires which He has placed in me. I guess I am just an extremely impatient person. I want it now and am struggling with the continuing waiting game.
My other dilemma is that I think I make myself too much of a friend to guys that they just never move to the next step because I am just not a threat and can be a friend. It's frustrating!! That may or may not be true but it seems to me that it is true. The actual harder thing is when my friends guys tell me that I am great and they don't know why someone hasn't snatched me up yet. I know they mean it as a compliment but it actually hurts. Oh well such is life.
I dream of a day when I can find the happiness that so many others have found, when I can serve and love someone, that I can start a family and new life with. I look forward to the next great adventure in life where I can grow with someone and together in our relationship with God. Someday I know it will happen, I know that God promises that and I will continue to cling to that promise and pray in faith for it to happen. (how does one pray in faith? I am really not sure but I will do my best)
This is my online coffee house. Here I will journal, share my dreams, post my favorite poems, and create a place for friends to delight in with me! This will be a place reminiscent of the atmosphere enjoyed during a good Tea.

IOWA Con't again...
Wednesday was my day! I went to Beth's future-mother-in-law's house to help with wedding decorations. Then I ran to Walmart and Target to run some errands for Beth. I also got some pics printed from the previous days. Then it was home to try and get a nap. I couldn't really sleep though but just spent some time alone and caught up on relaxing and homework. Beth and company got home around 8pm. It was a pretty uneventful yet completely exhausting day for all of us.
Beth spent the day with her Mum, hunting flowers for, aisle runners, thank you gifts that she couldn't find and just generally exhausting herself. She was supposed to be relaxing and then taking a nap in the afternoon.
Today, now that I am finally caught up with what's going on, started early and turned out a heck of a lot busier than it originally was supposed to be. I took Beth and her Mum for mani's and pedi's at 9am and on the way we got word from her sister. Here Jenny's car had broken down and she was stuck in Des Moines. So off I went to Des Moines to pick her up. Got back at 10:30am. We stopped at the nail place to see how they were doing and they weren't done yet. Then as we are sitting there waiting we realize that we need to get Jenny to the apartment for her haircut. So I rush her back and then run back to pick up Beth and her Mum and also run to the scrapbook store for some more supplies.
After we finally got out of there we ran to Ashley's to pick up flower girl baskets and then headed back to the house. I fixed lunch for Beth, Jenny and I and then Beth was off with Luke and her parents to get the wedding certificate. Jenny and I headed out at 1:45pm for me to get a hair cut and run more errands. We all got back to the apartment between 4:30 and 5 pm. We just kinda worked on some things and then I fixed dinner. Luke came over, we all ate and then they left to conquer the hotel because the other two bridesmaids weren't going to make it tonight due to weather. When they got back it was back to the grindstone again, printing programs and cutting them up. And that has caught you up to what we are doing right now. More later, good night all!!!

My Friend Shrig and her Aunt Dori
Please pray with me as my friend I spoke about in an earlier post lost her Aunt Dori, who is like a Mother to her on Tuesday the 25th of July. My heart is utterly breaking for her and wishing that there was something that I could say and do. Please please pray as this is a very hard time for her and her brother. This is the fourth family member they have lost in under a year. Thank you and I LOVE YOU SHRIG!!!!
Iowa con't...
So it is now Wednesday, two and a half days and counting till the wedding. I have been eating salads and chicken all week. I can't wait for the reception when I can have something sweet.
So, Sunday, I went to Beth and Luke's church. Two people as I entered with her asked me if I was her mother!!!! DO I REALLY LOOK THAT OLD!?!?!?! How depressing. It was a great church though. They meet in the gymnasium of a local Christian school. The sermon was great, did I mention that Luke's dad is the Pastor and that Luke leads the worship? So anyway, the sermon was about how we have our own personal lie detector the Holy Spirit, according to 1 John. It was great though I had a bit of a hard time focusing cause I was exhausted. After church they had a potluck dinner for a couple in the church who where leaving. It was very good. Then Beth and I headed back to the apartment to prepare for our day of just us. Oh yeah, I had scheduled massages and hand massages for the two of us at a spa, only to find out Sunday morning while checking for directions that I had gotten the cities wrong. I had thought the place said it was in Des Moines when it was actually in Iowa City. That is a 2 hour drive and neither of us were up for that. So we headed to the mall to see about going to a nail place and getting mani's and pedi's.
We got sort of lost on the way to the mall but not so bad that we could recover and turn around. When we finally got to the mall, we went to payless to exchange my shoes for my dress and then we hit up Vicky's and Dillard's. Then we grabbed a bite to eat and realized that the mall was closing around us. To say none the least this was very frustrating. I had really wanted to do this for her and had failed miserably. So instead we went to Barnes and Nobles and did a little shopping and reading and enjoyed reminiscing about the past and the fun things we had done. It was great!!! Barnes and Noble is our place. We hung out there till almost nine and then hit Walmart with some errands and headed home. I think we finally got to bed around 11 or 12 pm.
Monday was spent doing errands. I went grocery shopping while Beth tried to go into work, however she realized she just couldn't pay attention to what she needed to be doing. So she ended up taking the whole week off. Beth's parents stopped by that evening and her Mum went to get her hair cut. It looks really nice and she is excited about the wedding. She made Beth and Luke this very beautiful quilt. Yes you heard me right, her Mother made the quilt. It is very pretty and she did an excellent job. I think we got to bed around the same time that night as well.
Tuesday was another errand day. Beth stopped by work to show Valarie the ropes and then we were on our way to more errands. That afternoon we went out to Beth's Grandparents to see her Mum's wedding clothes and her sister Jenny came in. She drove all the way from Grand Rapids, MI to Ankeny, IA without any air conditioning. All I got to say is got some respect for that girl. Beth and I left there around 4pm to run back to the apartment with a quick stop at the tanner's, to get ready for her "other" bridal shower that evening.
The bridal shower was fabulous. Her friends Linda and Valarie put it on and did such a marvelous job. They decorated with live wildflowers cut from her yard and made the kitchen into and English tea garden. It was absolutely lovely. I'll add pictures and more later. I really need to take a nap now.

Iowa
IOWA IS VERY FLAT!!!!
So I made it to Iowa with very little incident. I left my apartment at 5:15 am Sat. morning and got to the airport by 5:45am. I have never seen DCA so busy in my entire life. I think I have flown out of there at least 3 times and this was the first time I actually had to stand in line for a good half an hour. People were flippin out left and right about not catching their flights and all I could do was laugh because they were the ones who showed up with a half an hour to spare. What idiots!!!
So anyway, I made it onto the plane to find that I was sitting right next to a young mother with an 11month old little girl. My first thought was great, I'm exhausted and this child will probably scream the whole time. Then that changed because the little girl could I guess sense my instinctive love of children and wanted to play. So for the first 2 hour portion of my trip I helped take some of the stress off the mom by playing with her little girl. She never cried once. It was great.
Then when I got to Memphis for the switch I ended up, as usual, on this little "hop, skip and jumper." Now mind you the whole reason for this trip is to fly to Iowa and be with my best friend as she prepares for her finals days till the wedding, I am one of the bridesmaids, and I have my dress with me. The previous plane this had not been a problem. As I am getting on the puddle-jumper they tell me that I have to put the dress below with all the other baggage. I told them, unless you can swear to me on pain of death that nothing will happen to this dress it stays with me!!! Well there actually isn't much pain of death that I can enforce and they overrode me. However as I was finally boarding the flight attendant felt sorry for me and offered to hang it with his stuff as he feared that they couldn't keep their promise. I was very grateful and raced back to grab it before it ended up below with everything else. CRISIS AVERTED!
I made it to Des Moines with no other incidents picked up my car and headed to Ankeny. The associate for Budget was very helpful and gave me directions that helped me avoid all the construction in Des Moines but didn't take me too far off the beaten path that I would get myself completely lost trying to get to Beth's house. I reached my final destination around 11:15 am. Beth and her Grandma were cleaning the apartment and having fun. I joined in and then finally met the man who has made my Beth the most happiest woman on the face of this planet.
He truly is the man that completes her. I am so happy I constantly feel like I am in a state of weepiness. So anyway, we spent the rest of Saturday, running a few errands and then headed to her Grandma's to do laundry. It was a very nice relaxing time and watching Beth interact with her Grandmother is always a treat.
Okay that's it for tonight, I am exhausted and I have to start early tomorrow with more running around. I am the luckiest person in the world!!!!!

Time to say good-bye
It is actually now currently my last day as I did not get this posted yesterday like I wanted. We are all going to lunch today at CPK and then I will be heading out. How sad and yet happy I am. Tomorrow morning I leave bright and early for Iowa to spend the week helping my Best Friend Beth with any last minute wedding plans. I am so excited. I haven't seen in her in forever.
I have one day left at my old job and I am very thrilled. Tonight is our company's All-Hands meeting and my last chance to say good-bye to some of the friends I have made over the two years I was employed here. I absolutely look forward to the new opportunities coming my way and the very clear career change and career choice I have made. The hardest part though is always saying good-bye.
I know that this won't be the last time I see many of these folks because they are my friends and we always have happy hours, birthdays, weekend treks to the park and so on. It will be different though going to a new place where I don't know anyone at all and will not really get the chance to know too many people.
It's funny how distinct changes in your lifestyle and life path make you stop and think. What have I really done and learned over these past two years? How have these two years shaped who I am today? What will I take with me that will always be remember as being what Touchstone imprinted into my core? Is this where I expected to be?

aaarrrggghhhh
Okay so on a note that isn't so "happy", I am very frustrated, annoyed, angry and tired. I am ready to quit school, because I just no longer have the energy it takes to go home from work each night and know that my work is not yet done. I am frustrated that I don't have a life. I am frustrated with other things going on in my life and some people in my life who just won't step up!! Why??!?!?!?!? I am frustrated and annoyed with mixed signals and my ignorance. I am angry that I can't seem to get control of my life and make it go the direction I want it to. I know, I know, I don't control my life, GOD does. But I wish He would let me try to control a little bit of it.
And right now I am angry at Him for what he is doing to one of my best friends. She has been through so much s*@t this past year and yet He still keeps piling it on. She has lost 4 relatives in one years time and unfortunately is preparing to lose yet another. She has had to deal with a lot crap regarding an accident and an anal, ornery, money grubbing old man. She studies her rear off for school but yet can't seem to get where she wants to be. I love her and really hate seeing Him create more and more reasons in her life for her to not believe in Him. I wish He would just give her a break. BACK OFF FOR A WHILE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! LEAVE HER ALONE!!!!!
*aside* of course this could also be a ploy by Satan cause he knows i am getting my life back on track and really working to solidify my personal relationship with God. he could be doing this because he knows how much I care about my friends and hate to see them suffering and knows if he pushes hard enough maybe I will cave. well all I have to say is GET THEE BEHIND ME SATAN!!!! You are the @$$hole of all @$$holes and one day you will burn forever!!!!!!!!!!! Leave me and my friends alone cause what your doing won't work!!!! I will continue to trust that God is doing the right thing and will see Himself glorified through all this. However if this is the case I apologize deeply to my best friend that she is the one bearing the brunt of Satans ploy to get me. I really really really am sorry. I TRULY LOVE YOU AND YOU KNOW I WOULD NEVER WISH THIS UPON ANYONE ESPECIALLY YOU!!!!
*DISCLAIMER* not everything sucks. I have a great new job, a great new apartment, a great new roommate, a great church with great friends and a great weekend job at a cafe. *END DISCLAIMER*

Celtic FC
So last night was a pretty awesome night! A friend had asked my roommate and I if we wanted to attend a DC United match. For those of you who don't know DC United is the DC professional soccer team. Anyway, I jumped at the chance to see a professional soccer match live as I had just spend weeks watching the World Cup and was totally not ready for soccer to be "over".
So half way through the day yesterday I figured I should find out who DC was playing and to my utter amazement and absolute pleasure I found that we were playing Celtic FC the premiere Scottish football club team. I WAS THRILLED! to say none the least. I love Soccer and I love SCOTLAND!! What better way to end the day than to attend a Soccer match where we play a Scottish team.
So I went home put on my green and white for the Celtic FC and grabbed my Scottish St. Andrew's cross flag and my umbrella of the same. I headed to the match and met up with my friends. It was good times had by all. Celtic FC let me down and lost 4-0, but just being at a live soccer match and knowing the team was from Scotland made everything okay. I had a great time hanging out with my friends.

a little freaked out...
So I did something today that I have never done before. I turned in a two week notice/letter of resignation. Even though I know that I have another better position waiting for me it is still really freaky thing to do. I realized that I can no longer, well I don't know, I just feel kinda in limbo.
I am extremely excited about my new position yet daunted by the fact that I will be working at the Pentagon. It is a very scary thing if you think about it too much, which is what I am doing. The exciting thing though is that I am filling a brand new role that the client asked for and thus I will get to define the role for any future fillers. I will have to turn down or boot out higher ups in favor of even higher uppers than them. (Yeah so if my employers could read this they would be scared. I am supposed to write e-mails with good grammar and this obviously isn't :-). Oh well this is my personal thought page, it is not a complete reflection on my organized life outside of my disorganized thoughts!)
On another note, I am finally into my new place in NE DC. I have a great roommate, a nice place and painted walls!!!! I am so excited about that because now I know I won't have to suffer through my winter depression. One wall is a salmony red, the other is a muted burnt orange and the last is a goldeny yellow. They match my comforter! I have two very large windows on the red wall and a walk in closet. There are a lot of boxes still around as we work to unpack and set up house. It is fun though, we finished the kitchen unpacking last night so all we have left to do in there is paint. We are painting it a teal blue with bright green stripes. Then the bathroom will be orange with a red glaze, kind of like a red gerbera. Our living room is going to have one wall that is squares of blue, green and sheet copper and the rest of the walls will be khaki.
I am pretty sure that my roommate Hyla and I will get along great, though the football season may be a little intense. See she is a die-hard Steelers fan and I am a DIE-HARD Patriots fan. That could make for some interesting games, I guess the good thing is that we aren't playing each other in the regular season this year. Any way more later. I am looking forward to this new living experience as I know it will be 100 x's better than any of my past ones.

"Officially" twenty-six
I am "officially" twenty-six years of age now. It's weird, you know, you spend so much time focusing on the actual number but when I think about it, I don't really feel 26 years old. I sometimes still feel like I am just graduated from college and freaking out about being a part of the real world. It's funny how some things never change. I look at my life and wonder how I got where I am not? How did I end up in Washington, DC with a great church, a great group of friends, a semi-wonderful job and living on my own? That is the exact opposite of how I had always imagined my life would be. I had always dreamed that I would graduate from college, get married and probably already have a kid by now. Now I can't even begin to imagine being a mom already. Now that isn't to say I couldn't imagine being married or that I wouldn't be more than willing to leave this all behind to start a family but...well I am definitely not where I thought I would be.

News, News, News!!!!
I am so excited!!! I have an interview tomorrow afternoon for a job I really want. It would be as a Conference Room Scheduler and Administrative Assistant. I would be working for a company that is contracted to perform services for the Secretary of Defense. I would get the amazing opportunity to work at the Pentagon. I am very excited about the position. The pay is good and the job is right up my alley. Besides what small-town Pennsylvania girl wouldn't want to work at the Pentagon for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. SAWEET!!!!!
So please keep me in your prayers tomorrow. I am a bit nervous and it will be a busy and long day.
My schedule for tomorrow.
5:15am wake-up
6:15am leave the house
6:50am arrive at work
7:00am Starbucks for my morning wake-up call
7:10am Run copies for the 8am meeting
7:30am set up breakfast and room for 8am meeting
8am attend meeting until 10am
10am Brown Bag coordination and planning
11am PowerPoint planning for "generation gap"
12pm meet with HR Director
12:30pm leave for interview
1pm Interview
2:30 return from interview
3pm plan for next day's offerings
4pm plan for gameboard offering
5:30pm leave for softball game on the mall
6:30pm softball on the mall
8pm leave to get bridesmaid gown
9:45pm finally get home
10pm homework
11:30pm SLEEP
Long day but over all, by the time it's done it will have been a productive day. The only bad thing is that my Bible study group that meets Thursday mornings starts the same time that I have to already be at work. I am disappointed because we were going to be covering Journaling as a way to grow in your relationship with God.
On a good note though, my birthday is in 5 days!!! I will be 26 on the 26th!!!!!! I can't wait. A group of friends are getting together at a local restaurant for burgers and beer and then on Thursday we are going to my favorite restaurant for live Jazz and great food.

Spiritual Reflections
Matthew 7:7-8
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
The average child asks 125 questions a day, the average adult, 6. What happened between childhood and adulthood that so jaded us we no longer have the same thirst for knowledge?
We should never lose our curiousity for the Holy. Question everything, eagerly seek to know more about Him. Question constantly the acts of glory and holiness that happen daily around us and in us.
Oliver Wendell Holmes says "A mind stretched by a new idea never returns to its original shape."
As Christians, we daily risk letting our spiritual lives fall into the pre-determined ruts on the road in front of us. We daily struggle with keeping things like prayer, worship, and scripture reading from being heuristic.
Heuristic - something that is rote and takes no thought to complete. It is habitual action. (i.e. tying shoes, typing, and walking.)
Find new ways to get into the Word and get the Word into you.
Psalm 63:1
O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; my soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
God responds to spiritual desperation, not some routine or huristic bias.
Live like you were to die tomorrow, and learn like you were to live forever. Gandhi

You know you're busy when...
You still have two days left in the pay period and all the hours worked on those days go toward overtime.
Sleep is a by-product of your body just shutting down on you.
Your idea of free time is walking to Starbucks for coffee (10mins)
Your day starts at 5am and ends at 12am.
School is the last thing you want to be thinking about, but the first thing you think about.
You sleep, but dream of what you have to do the next day.
Coffee no longer works!
Your desk looks like a hurricane hit it, even after you have cleaned it off.
You spend your time at a MLB game worrying about time for homework and the last two innings working on homework.

Life
Well it is finally my golden birthday month!! Sometimes I don't know whether or not to be excited about that or not. As of right now, I am trying to get a group of friends to go to dinner on the 26th and then have a b-day happy hour later in the week at my favorite resturaunt on Barracks Row. But...I don't actually want to think about getting any older, I mean I am not THAT old but sometimes I feel like it :-).
There has been a lot going on in my life lately. I have a whole new experience taking place that I have never had before and trying to keep my perspective and focus where it needs to be is getting harder and harder. I keep finding myself wanting to take things into my own hands instead of trusting God to do things His way. Since He did start the whole deal I shouldn't have a problem, but I guess being human, its that whole control aspect.
I have been studying Philippians and been reminded daily that I need to find the joy in every situation as well as reminded that with God as my foundation there is nothing I can't handle. Its funny how you read something all the time while growing up and going to a Bible college but until you are actually ready to be open to what God is saying in His Word it doesn't make any sense to you. I can't tell you how many times I have read Philippians because it is my favorite book but I just never saw it in the same light as I have recently while delving deep into its precious treasures.
I praise God daily that He never let go of me! I praise Him for great friends like Sarah and Beth who constantly push me to be the woman of God I should be. Who constantly encourage me to find my value in my Father, the King. I praise God for my church here in DC. He has blessed me far beyond anything I could have asked and I keep forgetting to see it. I praise God for new friends and a great part-time job that allows me to get to know more and more people. PRAISE THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, THE CREATOR AND SUSTAINER OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

UPDATE
PRAISE THE LORD!!! Thanks to everyone who prayed it was greatly appreciated and answered.
Okay everything has been worked out in my crazy life of housing situations. I am going to be able to stay in the same place for one more month for the difference between my security deposit and the actual months rent. I also will only have to pay for my part of the untilities as well. This is a massive blessing since I didn't really have a place to go for a month. I had a friend from church offer me a place for two weeks and another friend offer to take my baby for the same amount of time. But GOD takes care of His children and I am going to be okay. I just wish He wouldn't wait until the last second to keep me up to date. :-)

Two Friends
I found this on mySpace today and thought it was great. Enjoy!!
TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING
THROUGH THE DESERT.
DURING SOME POINT OF THE
JOURNEY THEY HAD AN
ARGUMENT AND ONE FRIEND
SLAPPED THE OTHER ONE IN THE FACE.
THE ONE WHO GOT SLAPPED
WAS HURT, BUT WITHOUT
SAYING ANYTHING, WROTE IN THE SAND:
TODAY MY BEST FRIEND
SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.
THEY KEPT ON WALKING,
UNTIL THEY FOUND AN OASIS,
WHERE THEY DECIDED TO TAKE A BATH.
THE ONE WHO HAD BEEN
SLAPPED GOT STUCK IN THE
MIRE AND STARTED DROWNING,
BUT THE FRIEND SAVED HIM.
AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM
THE NEAR DROWNING,
HE WROTE ON A STONE:
TODAY MY BEST FRIEND
SAVED MY LIFE.
THE FRIEND WHO HAD SLAPPED
AND SAVED HIS BEST FRIEND
ASKED HIM, "AFTER I HURT YOU,
YOU WROTE IN THE SAND AND NOW,
YOU WRITE ON A STONE, WHY?"
THE OTHER FRIEND REPLIED
"WHEN SOMEONE HURTS US
WE SHOULD WRITE IT DOWN
IN SAND WHERE WINDS OF
FORGIVENESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY.
BUT, WHEN SOMEONE DOES
SOMETHING GOOD FOR US,
WE MUST ENGRAVE IT IN STONE
WHERE NO WIND CAN EVER ERASE IT."
LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN
THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR
BENEFITS IN STONE.
Mark 11:25-26 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your sins

My weekend
Man alive! let me just say I traveled over 1000 miles in six days.
So I left at 8pm on Wednesday night and got in around 12am. I was up at 7:30am to get my Fia to the vet and then my mum and I hit up Eat n Park for breakfast. After breakfast we headed to the hairdressers to get my hair trimmed!! I love it, she shaped it and gave me something that will keep it from frizzing but I don't need a bunch of other junk in it either. THen I went next door to Dick's sporting goods and purchased my very first tennis racket. I am so excited to get to play now. Then we went to the PA driver's license center and renewed my license. Then I went home and packed my stuff and was on the road for Scranton by 2:30pm.
On the way to my friends house I actually stopped to pick her husband up from work. We got to their place by 5:30. The next morning we had graduation at BBC. It was great!! I got to see a couple of different people that I almost forgot were graduating and then a few who I didn't even know were graduating. Then after graduation we went back to my friends house and ate a quick lunch and then all of us including the baby went down for a nap. It was so nice. Then my friend thinking we were going to another friends party stopped to pick up a gift for them from her mom's only to find that we had surprised her with her own party. You have no idea how hard it is to surprise my friend. She always knows if something is happening. But we got her and got her good.
I stayed there until about 8:30pm till I got a call from my friend Kerry. We got together at Starbucks and caught up on a lot of lost time. It was so wonderful to get to see her again. It is so weird sometimes to realize that my friends are moms and wives. But anyway, we had a great time. The next morning my friend and I went shopping and then I was on the road by 5:30pm. Okay now this trip is supposed to take 2 1/2 hours I got home at 7:05pm. I will let you do the math :-). Then I met up with my friend Shrig for a quick dinner and a bit of dessert from Dairy Queen. It was really nice to get the chance to see her again. Though it wasn't under the best of circumstances for her. Then while we were at Dairy Queen a friend of mine from Youth Group was there with her family. She and her husband and boys had moved to Grove City two years ago and I hadn't seen them for longer than that. So we caught up quick and exchanged e-mails.
Then I rushed home to pick up my dad for a 9:40pm showing of MI:III. Now I have to say I really enjoyed it. It was almost as good as the first one. The second one stank because there was no good plot, though the action was great. The third one had plot and action. We got home around midnight. And I quickly caught up on all my homework. Then hit the sack by 1:30am.
The next day was Mother's day and my Mum actually had the day off for the first time in 6 years. So my Mum, Dad and Grandmum all went to the resturaunt where my sister works for lunch. Then after that my Mum and I did some quick last minute shopping before heading home to grab a quick nap and then get on the road.
We were headed to my grandfather's because we were told he was having emergency surgery. So we got in there around 9:30pm. The next day we went with him to the hospital and I got to meet up with my old roomie Erin from college. It was great, we went to lunch at this great Italian resturaunt. Then that night we took my grandfather out for dinner.

It worked!!
So anyway I am leaving tonight to go to PA for the weekend. I am headed to my parents first to drop off my kitty to get fixed. Poor baby for her but YAY for me. Now I don't have to listen to her go into heat all the time. Plus she is getting declawed so that will be nice to play with her and not have my hands all scratched up. Then after I drop her off in the morning, I head to the PA DOT to get my drivers license renewed. Then I am going to go get my hair cut and there was something else that I can't think of off the top of my head. Then tomorrow afternoon I am headed to Scranton for my friend Sarah's college graduation the next morning. Then Friday after grad. I am meeting up with a friend from college, I have to pick up pipe tobacco for my dad and then go to a grad party. Finally Saturday I have a little time with Sarah myself and then see the family I used to nanny and then head home to Central PA. When I get there, my dad and I are going to see MI:III. Then the next day is Mum's day and I am going to take her to dinner somewhere and then her and I are going to go see Just My Luck with Chris Pine. Then I have the rest of that day and most of Monday to enjoy with my mum before heading home to DC.
So that is my crazy hectic life for the weekend!!! But I am looking forward to it!!

What a weekend!!!!
So I had a really great weekend!!! On Friday night I got tickets to attend the Marine Barracks Evening Parade. It was so awesome!!! The thing that was even cooler was that as I was walking home from the metro to shower and get dressed for it, there was tons of security all over the place. Now some may not think this is unusual since I live in DC but I live right near the Marine Barracks and had never seen so much security before for any of their other Evening Parade presentations. So I stopped and asked one of the guards what was going on and he said well it's Cinco de Mayo! I was like do I look that stupid?!?!?! I know it isn't that. Well they wouldn't answer so I kept walking. Then I saw a Marine and asked him and he informed me that the President of the United States of America was going to be in attendance for this presentation. I was so pumped because I have lived in this city for two years now and not once seen the President, plus I HAD TICKETS TO ATTEND.
Let me tell you, the parade was the most amazing thing I have seen in a long time. The President's Own Marine Band played as well as the Commandant's Own. And I learned that John Philip Sousa was born not six blocks from where I live now and a block and a half from the Marine Barracks. He actually directed the Marine Band for 15 years! They also had this really awesome Silent Drill Team that worked with rifles that had bayonets attached. They didn't use any words to do what they did and it had to be one of the most amazing things. Besides that spending 2 hours around a bunch of Marines all in their dress blues was like heaven on earth
:-).
However even through all that, the reality of life and what is taking place today in our world came down hard. They announced all the special guests who were in attendance for the evening and their was a couple of Marines from Walter Reed Hospital there. I think I have always taken for granted that my Brother came back from Iraq twice in once peice. These men reminded me of the fact that I could have lost him. These men had bravely fought and sacrificed parts of their bodies. I saw men with missing legs and arms, men who were in traction with metal rods sticking out from all angles of their legs, and then some men who were "lucky" enough to have all their limbs but recovering from injuries that it was obvious they had suffered much to get where they were that day. I took advantage of the fact that as we exited after the Parade, the men where being escorted back to their bus, to stop and thank each and everyone of them. I couldn't keep the tears from my eyes as they each accepted my hand and heard my words. It was such an honour and privilige to be able to thank men who gave so much for us. It makes me so angry when people degrade what they have done and lost for this war.
GOD BLESS THE MEN AND WOMEN OF OUR MILITARY WHO DAILY LAY THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR THE SAKE OF OUR PEACE AND FREEDOM!!!!

You know sometimes I wonder how God can be so patient and forgiving. Doesn't He ever get tired of me being a selfish brat? I mean I get tired of myself. Yet He still gives me a new day with a new chance to be what He wants me to be. I was thinking about this because I have been really making an effort to surrender myself to Him every morning. So far He continues to keep me in His palm and remind me to do it everyday. Not that by so far He would ever stop, it's more like I would stop. The next step I need to make is to take time every day and get to know Him more through studying His word and heartfelt prayer. I never realized how hard it is to make time everyday. Especially when you are working two jobs, grad school, soccer, softball and trying to have a life. When do I find the time? I thought about doing it in the morning but my alarm already goes off and 5:30 am every morning and there is no way I could get up any early than that and have a productive day. At night I usually get home and do homework, watch tv and try to wind down for the day. I know that this would be the best time to do it, but...
I need to just cut the crap and the excuses and do it. Nothing is more important than getting to know my Father more. How can I live a life that Glorify's Him if I am not even getting to know what it is that He likes and is?
Thank you to all my friends who daily prayer for me and love me know matter what I do or say. Also thank you for your prayers regarding housing. Hyla and I have decided that we are 99.5% sure that I will be moving in, June 1st. I am really excited!!!
I love you Beth and am so stinkin happy that God has blessed you with such a wonderful man!!!!

Mercy Me
Mercy Me's new CD came out this past week and all I have to say is Praise God for such a wonderful group who brings honor and glory to His name is such a wonderful way. Their words and music serve as a constant reminder and challenge for all who listen to Glorify God and to say no to self.
some of my favorits from this CD are No More No Less, Bring the Rain, So Long Self and Last One Standing.
No More No Less
I'm not trying to hide anything
I wear it on my sleeve
I wear it on my sleeve.
I'm not trying to be something I'm not
This is all I've got
This is all I've got.
I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel
Just trying to be real
Trying to be real.
I'm not trying to say follow me
I'm not the one who leads,
I'm not the one who leads.
Let me introduce myself to you
This is who I am
No more no less
I am just a man who understands
because of You I'm blessed
No more no less.
I'm not trying to prove anything
It's all about the change
It's all about the change
Let me introduce myself to you
This is who I am
No more no less
I am just a man who understands
because of You I'm blessed
No more no less.
I hope you stare just long enough to see
The heart that's beating here inside of me
beyond all of the things you may think you know
I'm just a kid trying to make it home that's it
No more no less
Lord I want to go home
Nothing more nothing less.
So Long Self
Well if I come across a little bit distant
It's just because I am
Things just seem to feel a little bit different
you understand
Believe it or not but life is not apparently
About me anyways
But I have met the One who really is worth
So let me say
So long self
Well it's been fun, but I have found somebody else
So long self
There's just no room for two
So you are gonna have to move
So long self
Don't take this wrong but you are wrong for me farewell
Oh well, goodbye, don't cry
So long self
Stop right there because I know what you're thinking
But no we can't be friends
And even though I know your heart is breaking
This has to end
And come to think of it the blame for all of this
Simply falls on me
For wanting something more in life than all of this
Can't you see
So long self
Well it's been fun, but I have found somebody else
So long self
There's just no room for two
So you are gonna have to move
So long self
Don't take this wrong b ut you are wrong for me farewell
Oh well, goodbye, don't cry
So long
Don't feel so bad (don't feel so bad)
There'll be better days (there'll be better days)
Don't go away mad (but by all means)
Just go away, go away
So long self
Well it's been fun, but I have found somebody else
So long self
There's just no room for two

Surrender
I am giving You my heart and all that is within
I lay it all down for the sake of You my King
I am giving You my dreams, I am laying down my rights
I am giving up my pride for the promise of new life.
I am singing You this song, I am waiting at the cross,
And all the world holds dear, I count it all as loss,
For the sake of knowing You, the glory of Your name,
To know the lasting joy, even sharing in Your pain.
by: Marc James
God I surrender my heart fully and sincerely. I know that I will wake up everyday and try to take it back, but please remind me that this is what I have said to you.
I surrender my desire to be with someone, and trust that You and You alone are all I need. Trust that you will give me what is best for me and will Glorify You. I trust that you know exactly what I "need" and what I desire and will give them to me at the time and place that is right for You and will bring the most Glory to Your name.
I surrender my desire to grow more and more like you in the hope and trust that You will take that desire and use it for Your Glory by helping me to make time for You every day and to get to know You more.
I surrender my pride and my feelings that You owe me something when I know that You owe me nothing but I owe You everything. I surrender my stubborness and my bitterness. Please help me to make things right with Jason so that I can move and move past and better live my life for You.
I surrender my living situation and the possibility of a new one completely to You. I will trust in You and Your desire to see Your children happy and in a situation to Honor and Glorify You.
I surrender my anger, my jealousy and my impatience. Please take them and make me and mold me into a women after Your own heart and a lamp to the world of Your honor and glory!!!

Tennis
Okay so I know that I love watching tennis, especially when it is Andy Roddick playing or Roger Fedderer, however I had never actually picked up a racket in my life. That is until yesterday. There is this Alpha group that I am involved with and we had this really great day away yesterday. We got together at a place other than where we normally meet and talked about the Holy Spirit and enjoyed getting to know each other. So anyway they had tennis courts and there were a couple of extra rackets and balls, so this girl Melissa that I met and I decided to give it a shot. Well I must say I have never felt so inept and out of my league as I did. But I also discovered that I really love tennis not only watching it but trying my hand at playing. I am by no means any good but it is just plain fun. I will however have to make a mental note to wrap my ankles before playing cause all the running around the court you do I rolled them a couple of times. I keep forgetting that I have weak ankles cause I haven't played a sport in so long that required so much stopping and turning on a dime. Oh well, I just need to remember that but I am definitely going to keep playing and learning to play better. I hope to post a couple pics later. It was funny cause I "felt" so professional, I was wearing a skort and when I tucked the balls in the pockets I felt like Maria Sharpanova and Venus Williams. Like that would ever be a reality :-). Any way that was my foray into the tennis world and now I love to play and watch.

stringin me along
I sometimes wonder if God likes to play pranks on His children and string them along. (the rambling thoughts of a desperate woman)
As you all know I am desperately trying to get out of the bad living situation that I am in. I would ultimately prefer to live on my own but if that doesn't work then I would want to live with only one person. I can't handle living with a couple of girls again, what with the hormones, mood swings and many different senses of interior design. I also won't do the guy roommate thing ever again because they are slobs!!!!!!! Sorry to all you unique gentlemen out there who actually clean. (I LUV U BRO!!!)
So anyway...I thought I had kinda found a place with a friend from the Church I attend. However there are some strings that God keeps droppin in the way and I kinda feel like HE likes doing it. So I have a cat because, well you know us single women, (well at least me), I needed some sort of companionship to come home too. So yeah, this place is a great two bedroom apartment near where I work in the evenings and to the red line metro which would put me right at work. It is with a great person who has actually been living alone for some time and isn't sure about the whole roommate thing either and it is decently priced and in an okay neighborhood.
Here's the string though, we aren't "allowed" to have pets. However there are many cats and dogs in the building because the rule is not enforced and as long as the landlord doesn't see anything when you finally leave then they don't say anything.
Well the thing is, do I do the "right" thing and obey the landlord and keep searching or do I do what everyone else has done and just move in anyway and keep Fia clean? I mean she is a clean cat as it is, she knows where her litter box is and hasn't made any messes since I have had her. She is a generally quiet and relaxed cat and when she gets fixed in May she'll be even better.
Why can't God just let me find a place, I mean I am trying to do the right thing in getting my life back on track for Him but... I mean I know He wants us to trust Him and maybe He is testing me, I just wish He wouldn't test me in this area because I am in a terrible situation that I really must get out of.
I just can't win can I!! What would you have me do Lord? I mean I know I just begged you to give me the peace of mind and heart that so many of my friends have found, but is this really the way to do it? Please help me out here... I need out really bad, I can't handle this situation anymore!!!
I need out really bad, I can't handle this situation anymore!!!

update on a place to live
Okay so my one roommate the one that I actually kind of get along with is moving out this weekend. I am still desperately looking. The last place I told you about is actually a co-op that I can't afford to buy into. I have a couple of other places I am planning to check out but would appreciate any prayer that could be sent up on my behalf to find a place to live.
I am really ready to live on my own and not have any roommates. I don't think I can handle living with people any more :-).
I also just got the new Mercy Me CD in the mail today "Coming up to Breathe" I must say it is excellent. I really love it and them. God has used them in such wondrous ways. Okay thats it for today.

Okay GOD HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am on my knees, I don't know what else to do or how to do it. I just need you to take complete control and just heal me and put me back together. I am begging you, I am so tired of looking to man to fill the emptiness I feel. I want what everyone else has found...peace in You!!! I want it so bad and I am asking you, laying bare my heart to you!! I need you GOD, I need you like the deer needs water, like the earth needs sun, like the baby needs it's mother, like a flower needs the soil. Please take over every part of me and give me that peace. I am not sure how to do it but I just offer myself fully and completely up to YOU!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I WANT YOUR PEACE that you so freely offer. I want to be able to rely completely and solely on you. PLEASE I AM BEGGING, if I could get down on my knees in the office I would. I love you and I know that you love me, you show me every day in that you give me breathe and create in me a need for You.

I might have found a new place to live!!!!!!!
I am really excited because this new place will finally be just mine!! I don't have to share with any roommates. I will have my own dining room, living room and kitchen. I can decorate how I want and clean as often as I want with out people calling me a neat freak!!! Whooppeeeee!!!! Plus I can still have my baby Fia around.
I will know by the end of this week. All my friends out there I would appreciate the prayers that this works. Here is the site that shows some pics and the floorplans for the one bedroom apartments. www.thcapitolhill.com check it out and let me know what you think :-).
Oh and praise God for being a full-time student and employee. I got a great tax return this year that will pay off my Scotland trip and allow me to move! I am so excited, I have my appointment to turn in my passport info on the 4th of May and then it is just sitting and waiting for the day I leave.

In CHRIST alone
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground His body lay
Light of hte world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost it's grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Brought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace

It is such a freeing feeling. I also did my taxes and am getting back quite a large sum due to the fact that I am a full-time student!!! Hooray!!!! This will allow me to pay off my Grandmum for the Scotland trip. That means that I no longer have to stress about working so many hours in order to pay for the trip and earn spending money. Now everything I make will go directly to spending money for Scotland!!!!!!!!!!!!
As it pertains to life...I am attending a Monday night Bible study and a Wednesday night service. I am almost done one full year out of two of Grad School. I have also come to the realization from reading friends blogs and websites that I am the only person who has not followed her dreams. SO....
After tax time next year I am definitely planning to move to Scotland and pursue the life I have always dreamed of. I have so many connections there with family and friends from work who know folks that I shouldn't have a single problem finding a place to live or a job to work. I have also realized that because I have been so unsettled about this that I think that is why God has not allowed anyone to come into my life yet.
I have been reading this great book by John Eldredge called "The Journey of Desire" and it has made me realize that God gives us desire to test us to see if we really trust him enough to step out and follow them through. It has also showed me how prayer is such an important part of our relationships with God. He provides that outlet for talking to Him and sharing with us how He wants to use us. I have to remind myself that He is the One who gives us our every desire and will provide a way for us to see it through.
"Desire gives fervor to prayer. The sould cannot be listless when some great desire fixes and inflames it...Strong desires make strong prayers...The neglect of prayer is the fearful token of dead spiritual desires...There can be no true praying without desire. (E.M. Bounds: Man of Prayers)"
More to come later...

I miss FOOTBALL!!!!
Okay I didn't realize how much I miss watching football and talking football until yesterday. I was checking out my teams site again for the 1000th time to see if I could get any inkling of what was going through their heads to let some of our best players go.
A little while later I got an e-mail from the site letting me know that NFL.com had finally posted the 2006 schedule. The pathetic thing about this is, I immediately went to the site to print my teams schedule to put it on my calendar. As I was putting the games on my schedule I realized I was going to miss two of them when I was in Scotland and I actually was very sad.
I am going to be in the place I have dreamed of going for years and I was still sad that I was going to miss two games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is something wrong with me :-). I guess I will have to make sure I get an air card that provides me with internet access while I am there so that I can check the games progress.
The other pathetic thing is that I miss football so much I actually have the draft days on my calendar so that I can watch the draft. I realize that each year as I watch more and more football, I become more and more addicted to the sport. I absolutely love football. I love fall and I live for when I can start watching games again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Darcy
So I have this acquaintance that used to be a friend that reminds me of Mr. Darcy. In 'Pride and Prejudice' Darcy tells Elizabeth that his biggest weakness is that if someone loses his friendship it is lost forever. Thus the pride.
This is where the comparison begins with this friend. I messed up with them a couple of years ago and have been paying for it ever since. Not for lack of trying to fix it that's for sure but...they seem to be informing me with their actions that they don't care for my friendship at all. I mean we aren't talking a light friendship that was ruined we are talking about a friendship where this person knew almost everything there is to know about me. In fact I needed to put them on my security clearance form because they were the only person that I still had "contact" with from the one school that I went to. I jokingly warned them not to make anything up and they said back you should be more worried that I know everything.
Well anyway, I had invited this friend to get together for coffee this weekend and catch up. I figured at our age we could both be "man" enough to move on and try again at this friendship. I ended up leaving a message and telling them about this great little place where I work and that I would be hanging around there this weekend and to give me a call if they were interested in trying to catch up.
I knew for a fact that this person was around for the weekend because I had to pass where they live to get to work and I saw their car outside. Well to say none the least this person doesn't have to guts to be a "man". I mean I am talking didn't even bother to call at all, not even to say no it wouldn't work out. The sad thing is, this person is interning for a leadership role within a church and you would think that someone wanting to be in leadership would know that bitterness or pride are unacceptable.
I am just so frustrated and tired of trying to do the "right" thing. I wouldn't be trying so hard if I didn't miss their friendship and the conversations and wisdom, they have provided in the past, so much.

It would be crazy to stay here when I am sooooooo homesick for HEAVEN!!!!!
"I have not been called to the wisdom of this world..
But to a God who is calling out to me..
And even though the world may think
I'm losing touch with reality
It would be crazy
To choose this world over eternity"
I don't know why I am so at war within myself. There are days I selfishly want to stay on this earth so that I can experience things you can't experience in Heaven. But then there are the days when I selfishly want to go HOME because life would just be so much easier at Home with my Father.
I really don't know why on earth I want to stay here, the only reason would be to glorify and honor Him but I am not even seeming to do a good job of that. I mean I live my life the way He would want, I've been truly blessed by Him to help me fix some things in my life that really needed fixing but...
"I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now"
I don't know sometimes I just wish I could take the "easy" way out and go HOME. I really miss my Grannie and my close friend Jody. I would give anything to see them again and to get to see God face to face. I know He has me here for a purpose I just wish that He would make it so clear and evident to me that I couldn't possibly miss it.
"You're everything I cannot see
You're everything I cannot say
I know it all seems so illogical
But that's okay
You're the love You give to me
You're the love I give away
You are everything impossible
And that's okay"
But to a God who is calling out to me..

This is so TRUE!!!
I heard this song by Casting Crowns today and it just really made me think.
If you ask me to leap
Out of my boat on the crashing waves
If You ask me to go
Preach to the lost world that Jesus saves
I’ll go, but I cannot go alone
Cause I know I’m nothing on my own
But the power of Christ in me makes me strong
Makes me strong
Cause when I’m weak, You make me strong
When I’m blind, You shine Your light on me
Cause I’ll never get by living on my own ability
How refreshing to know You don’t need me
So I’ll stand on Your truth, and I’ll fight with Your strength
Until You bring the victory, by the power of Christ in me
If You ask me to run
And carry Your light into foreign land
If You ask me to fight
Deliver Your people from satan’s hand
To reach out with Your hands
To learn through Your eyes
To love with the love of a savior
To feel with Your heart
And to think with Your mind
I’d give my last breath for Your glory
If you ask me to leap
Out of my boat on the crashing waves
If You ask me to go
Preach to the lost world that Jesus saves
I’ll go, but I cannot go alone
Cause I know I’m nothing on my own
But the power of Christ in me makes me strong
Makes me strong
Cause when I’m weak, You make me strong
When I’m blind, You shine Your light on me
Cause I’ll never get by living on my own ability
How refreshing to know You don’t need me

GOD IS GOOD!!
Well it has been some time since I last posted so I figure I better update everyone. The past week has been absolutely crazy. I was at work at 7am every morning and didn't leave until 6 or 6:30 pm. Then on Monday I had Aphla, Tuesday night I babysat, then Wednesday night was Bible study, Thursday night I actually got to go home, then Friday night I went to a friends house for a traditional Irish dinner. It was pretty good. I had never tried corned beef because the sound of it just make me sick but it is actually very good. So anyway, Saturday morning I was up at 9am to meet some friends for breakfast and then to work at the cafe at 5pm until 10:45 pm. Then Sunday was church and work from 3:45pm - 10:45pm. And now the new week coming up I have to be at work by 7am again. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I am so ready for a break. But my dad is coming to see me this weekend so I will be taking Friday off.
I also just cut my hair so it is no longer very long at all. I actually really like the new length. It is like I had it when I lived in Pittsburgh for those of you who know me and can remember. I am really happy with it and don't think that I will ever go back to long hair again. So anyway...I love working at the cafe. It is such a great atmosphere and the people I work with are really great. I met this one girl that we just hit right off and I think I have finally found some friends finally in DC and it really makes me happy. I knew that God could do it I just was struggling with how long it was taking Him to work His ways. I know that I have to do my part too so I also stepped up and started going out of my way to meet people. For those of you who know me that is a big deal for me. I am not a complete introvert but it does take a bit of an effort for me to stop out of my comfort zone and introduce myself to a whole new group of people. But anyways, God has truly blessed me and I have finally begun to have plans that take up any free time I might possibly have to hang out with good Christian friends. PRAISE GOD FOR HIS FAITHFULNESS!!!

"Praise You In This Storm"
I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"

Annoyed, Angry and Upset
yesterday was just not my day. I woke up with a sinus headache, I had to take my best friend back to the airport to send her back to Iowa when I wanted her to stay, and then on the way back to work from there I somehow lost my cell phone. That is the second time in under a year that I have had it either taken from me or lost. I am so aggravated with myself. How could I have been so stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????
And today isn't that much better, sorry to complain all but I got to get it off my chest. Do you ever have one of those days that the slightest little thing just irks you and you want to lash out? Well that is how I have been feeling for the past three days and it really makes me angry at myself. I don't like feeling this way and I don't even know what is causing it. It is hard to keep that fake happy face so that the whole world around you doesn't know you are have a crummy day.
I am ready to get out of work today and just go home, curl up in my bed with a cup of tea and then just go to sleep. I hope and pray that tomorrow is better. Please pray for me that it is!!! Thank YOU!!!!!!!!

20) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?
Let's face it - English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.
And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth, beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?
If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run! and feet that smell?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which, an alarm goes off by going on.
English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all That is why, when the stars are out they are visible, but when the lights are out they are invisible.
PS. - Why doesn't "Buick" rhyme with "quick"
You lovers of the English language might enjoy this .
There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is "UP."
It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP ? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for elecltion and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report ?
We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car. At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP is special.
And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP . We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.
We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP.
When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP.
When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP .
One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now my time is UP, so........... Time to shut UP!
Oh...one more thing:
What is the first thing you do in the morning & the last thing you do at night? U-P
